Oslo, a five-year-old Australian Shepherd, loved exploring the mountains of Haute-Savoie and the Alps with his owner. His active lifestyle changed after a severe injury caused a partial tendon rupture in his right front paw. Although surgery helped address the initial trauma, Oslo was left with carpal hyperextension after tendon injury, which affected his stability, comfort, and confidence during movement.
For an energetic dog used to hiking and outdoor adventures, this condition created a major limitation in daily life. Oslo needed support that could stabilize the carpal joint without taking away the freedom and mobility that were so important to him. WIMBA Carpus Orthosis GO was selected to provide targeted support for post-surgical carpal joint hyperextension and help him return to more comfortable activity.
Oslo’s medical history included a serious injury to the tendons of his right front paw, followed by surgery and persistent carpal joint hyperextension. This type of instability can make weight-bearing more difficult and may increase the risk of compensatory pain in other parts of the body. In Oslo’s case, the goal was to protect the affected limb while maintaining as much natural movement as possible.
Because Oslo was young, active, and strongly motivated to move, the solution needed to support both clinical stability and everyday function. A dog carpus brace was used to help manage carpal hyperextension after tendon injury, reduce strain on the affected joint, and support safer movement during daily walks and outdoor activity.
