Meet Lola, an 11-year-old Lurcher recovering from an Achilles tendon injury in dogs. After Achilles tendon surgery, Lola needed controlled support to protect the surgical site, reduce strain, and support a gradual return to movement. With WIMBA Tarsus Orthosis GO, her recovery journey was supported by precise motion control, a dog tarsal brace design, and tailored WimbaTHERAPY tokens to help restore stability, comfort, and mobility.
Lola, an 11-year-old Lurcher, faced significant mobility challenges after an Achilles tendon injury and subsequent surgery. A ruptured Achilles tendon in dogs can make weight-bearing difficult and requires careful protection during recovery. In Lola’s case, post-surgical tarsal orthosis support was needed to reduce strain around the Achilles tendon insertion, protect the healing tissues, and allow controlled movement during rehabilitation.
Veterinarian’s Goals
The main goal of the WIMBA orthotics was to optimize Lola’s healing following her Achilles tendon surgery. The objectives were to enhance her mobility, improve her comfort by reducing strain and pressure on the surgical site, and ensure a smooth recovery process. By closely monitoring Lola’s progress, the aim was to make necessary adjustments in her rehabilitation using interchangeable WimbaTOKENS and to support her in regaining strength and returning to her normal activities.
“I’ve been really impressed with the WIMBA tarsal orthotic. The design process is straight-forward and the orthotics are very effective, adjustable and well tolerated. They are also much lighter and much less bulky than the custom orthotics I have previously used and this was particularly important for Lola, a relatively small dog”

“It’s hard work for lovely Lola and mum Dee… all this effort recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon. Thanks to Andy at The Moores Orthopaedic Clinic, Lola now is out of her cast and now has a fancy new brace made by WIMBA. It’s her next step on her recovery!”

The WIMBA Orthosis Impact
Two months post-surgery, Lola was fitted with the WIMBA Tarsal Orthotics, specifically the four-strap tarsal model. As a dog tarsal brace for Achilles tendon injury in dogs, WIMBA Tarsus Orthosis GO helped provide controlled support during a sensitive stage of Lola’s post-surgical recovery.
After the first fitting with the orthosis, initial discomfort arose due to swelling around her joint. To address this, Lola wore the WIMBA with only the top and bottom straps for the first week and the strap close to the Achilles tendon insertionwas removed. This approach allowed her wound to remain unbandaged, facilitating a quicker healing process. As the swelling and wound size reduced, we were able to fit the third strap, helping Lola gradually adjust to the full brace. Lola’s recovery journey demonstrates the transformative impact of combining innovative technology with dedicated veterinary care.
WIMBA orthotics should be used according to the veterinarian’s medical recommendations; WIMBA is not responsible for misuse or activities beyond veterinary advice.
